Atlanta, August 3, 2017 – SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) was recently awarded the Industry Impact Award at the second annual Horizon Awards hosted by TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed). SpaceWorks was also nominated for the Mentor Pinnacle Award.

TAG-Ed is a non-profit organization created by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and works to place high school students in hands-on STEM internships within their communities. TAG-Ed has supported the ASTRO (Aerospace Summer Training & Research Opportunity) program at SpaceWorks for several years.

The Horizon Awards event was held at the King Plow Arts Center in the Marietta Street Artery district of West Midtown in Atlanta. It was created to honor both students and mentors of the internships supported by TAG-Ed. SpaceWorks is the proud recipient of the Industry Impact Award, described by TAG-Ed as recognizing a mentor that “provided his interns with in-depth exposure to the company’s industry, whether through projects, meetings, events, or rotational programs. Through the mentor’s guidance, the intern has left the internship with a clear industry understanding.” SpaceWorks is greatly appreciative of this award and strives to give all ASTRO students an opportunity to work directly in the aerospace industry. Several students also received awards and scholarships for their hard work during their internships.

“We are certainly grateful for TAG-Ed’s recognition of our work here with our high school internship program, and I am extremely honored to have been named the recipient of the 2017 Industry Impact Award,” said Dr. John Olds, CEO of SpaceWorks. “SpaceWorks is committed to doing our part to promote the aerospace field to future generations of engineers, scientists, and mathematicians. We are passionate about our profession’s future. Our ASTRO program for high school interns is a group effort here every summer, and I share the recognition with our program coordinator Ashley Russ, our technical coach Megan Braun, and the rest of the ASTRO team at SpaceWorks.”
